This is the New Space for New Things

First off, I want to just throw out there that I am not thrilled about using blogger as the host for the new site(or at least the new page dedicated to the new album on the old site).  Times being how they are and money being low, I have taken on the task of maintaining my website by myself.  Not that I had a dedicated tech person who was there to post every tour date, every blog entry, every bit of internet ephemera.  I will say this though, I think I did a pretty alright job making this blog look decent.  Not great but decent.  But all this newness has probably got you scratching your head and asking some questions.  Let me attempt to answer.

So why the new page?

I got a new record coming out this fall!  It's called Country for the Timid11 swampy folk tunes, spooky country songs, fire and brimstone gospel, haunted blues and one cover of a Misfits song.  After moving to New York I found that it was not really practical for me to be playing loud electric music as much as I have in the past.  Can't really blast my neighbors with my amp, practice spaces are crazy expensive and usually only pay by the hour, and I maybe just kind of hit a wall after playing so many shows.  As much as I hate to say it, I was kind of tired of playing my songs in half/mostly empty bars. BUT I LOVE PLAYING MUSIC, so I couldn't just quit.  What I started to do was take my beat up acoustic, and go play in the subway, just like I used to do back in Boston when I was still in school.  With this new found tool, and this new venue, I started writing songs that would make sense to sing down there by the train.  I started gravitating to folk and country, started singing in a lower register, started to find a whole new voice to sing with.  Pretty soon the material was there, and it just seemed like the right thing to do to record it all.
This album sounds totally different from pretty much everything I've ever released before and I am really, really excited about you hearing it and hopefully coming out to some shows to hear the songs live.
I was lucky that my friend Dawn Landes was available, right at the time I wanted to record these.  I played the songs, she recorded them, some other friends played some other instruments, we drank margaritas and that was pretty much it.

So when are you playing some shows Yoni?

Starting SEPTEMBER 9th, and every Thursday in Sept, I am playing FREE SHOWS at a Brooklyn Farmacy(513 Henry St., Brooklyn, NY).  Farmacy is an old fashioned Soda Fountain/Ice Cream Parlor.  They sell locally grown produce, specialty candies and gum, and they serve up sundaes, splits, and egg creams.

Then in October, I am going out on tour.  This tour is going to be unlike any other that I've done, no joke.  Keep checking in for details.  I will be giving you some info soon.

So did the Goods break up?

Nope.  We are still a band and will play some shows together soon.
